Trying to lose weights, achieving a healthier life, keeping in shape, these are the motivations that lead someone to work out. Whichever the motivations, it’s a great step for you to decide to start working out. Problem is too often one gets bored and quits after a few weeks or even days after starting their exercise program. The benefits from all type of exercise can only be achieved with consistency. So if you start doing exercises and then stop doing it after a few weeks, then it’s likely you’ll never get to the point of goals you set to achieve, except maybe the new Nike shoe now sitting nicely in the closet.
- Find an exercise partner.
Having a partner while gives you tremendous boost. Try to find someone with same or even more level of motivation. You can make yourself a small competition among. Just be sure that you have self motivation so that in case this partner is quitting the work out, you are still on high energy and spirit.
- Start with small progression targets.
It’s much better and easier to make a target of spending five minutes per day on a treadmill than forcing yourself to do a straight half an hour session. Don’t be tempted to do the exercise more than the target you have set. Doing this will just exhaust and shock your body, and you wake up the next day with loss of motivation.
- Progress slowly
It’s very easy for the body to get used to the exercise routine. You feel much fitter and ready for a heavier challenge. Do the progression slowly. At this phase, it’s so easy to overtrain and end up quitting.
- Give breaks interval
Performing work out everyday is not a good way. The body needs days off to recover. Besides, you will be easily get bored doing the same thing everyday. Make a schedule of your exercises with at least two day off in a week.
By doing these tips, you can actually be consistent and committed to your work out program. And before you know it, you are doing your work out program as a habit that is not easily wear off.
